The Wapping Wharf area on Bristol’s historic harbourside is home to a vibrant restaurant scene largely made up of small or medium sized operators trading out of converted shipping containers.
BWF have been engaged by many of these independent companies to install kitchen ventilation systems in their containers.

The Design
Whilst requirements vary from restaurant to restaurant, they all need to comply with the site’s overall planning conditions namely that the systems must incorporate a high level of both noise and odour control. The system installed for Seven Lucky Gods as shown is fairly typical in that it comprises of an extract and supply air canopy serviced by ductwork leading down into a common service area which is also used by other BWF systems.
The fans are attenuated to comply with noise targets and odour in the extracted air is controlled using a two cell ESP and an ozone injection system before it exhausts back to high level.
This particular installation vents a charcoal fuelled grill and so is controlled with an automated CO / CO2 sensing system.
