Gas interlocks
The Gas (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 require that any extraction system serving a gas-fired kitchen should be provided with an interlock device which shuts off the supply of gas whenever the extraction fails to deliver a safe minimum level of airflow.
BW Fabrications has developed a proprietary system to comply with these regulations. The ‘Ventlock’ system comprises:
- a simple to use control panel with LED indicators of system status
- an emergency stop or “knock off” button to manually shut off gas flow in a fire
- pressure flow switches to monitor the performance of the extraction system
- wiring to connect all of the above to the gas solenoid valve in the gas pipe serving the kitchen (which can be provided by BWF or others)
